In the early 1990s, amidst the gritty allure of Southern California's burgeoning grunge music scene, 18-year-old Denver finds herself at a crossroads. Her father has been missing for over a year, leaving behind a void that haunts her every moment. After high school graduation, Denver and her best friend hit the road for a transformative journey across the country.

At first, they plan to scour cool college towns to find the perfect location for a vintage store they plan to open—but instead, they end up on a mission to unravel the mystery of Denver’s missing father.

From the sun-soaked streets of Los Angeles to the rain-soaked alleys of the nation’s capital, Denver and Shae navigate the vast deserts and rugged terrain of the American landscape, encountering a kaleidoscope of characters along the way. Each pit stop brings them closer to the truth, but also deeper into the complexities of their own lives.
